NW Region Meet – 2018

What a great Weekend!! It was attended by over 200 units including the Club Chairman Mel Hill.

The meet opened Thursday, everyone set up, and in the evening the Real Ale Bar opened for a natter and noggin evening with gentle back ground music.

Friday – saw the start of the competitions with Boules, normally a hotly contested competition! In the evening the youth section entertained us with Stand-Up Bingo in the Marquee Bar along with the youth Tombola run by Kath and Nev Ramsbottom.

Saturday – An early start for some! The 5 a side football started in the Arena at 9.30! Followed by the Welcoming Ceremony open to all campers, including the Miss May contest, a wonderful turn out. That was then followed by a Coffee Morning with a Meet and Greet with The Club Chairman Mel Hill. Noon saw the Bar open and the Fun Dog Show hosted by South Lancs DA. After the Dog show came the Royal Wedding on the Big Screen in the Marquee and The North West Region Heat of “The Campsite Cook of the Year” Where Mikey Naylor cooked Salmon Kebabs to win a Cadac BBQ and go through to the Grand Final at this years NFOL in August. In the afternoon Ray Clarkson was instructing on towing with a caravan kindly provided for us by Preston Caravans. Some DA’s had stalls on Saturday afternoon around the arena in amongst the Trade stalls. Then came the afternoons competitions, Volleyball, Kubbs and Tug of war, where heroes were made, and hearts broken (and a Toe!).

The evenings entertainment began with The FA Cup Final Between Chelsea and Man Utd, enough said about the result!! Carl Ashington provided the evenings main entertainment and a great evening ensued!

Sunday – Roger Little marshalled the Pennon Parade it was great to see so many of you take part! The NWR AGM then took place at 11am in the Marquee. The Club Chairman then awarded two Certificates of Honour to Terry Briney and Les French for their hard work and dedication to the Club and North West Region. North West Region Council then appointed a New Honorary Vice President, Brian Cohn who has been the NWR Treasurer for the last 30 years. All are well deserved. The main Raffle Prizes were drawn and awarded and the medals and trophies for the competitions were given out.

The afternoon was free time or time to pack up and go home. Some units stayed on and in the evening, we had a quiz and a chill!

Thanks goes to all whom helped out at this great weekend! And we hope to see you all with the same great weather next year, 16th – 20th May 2019.
