North West Region Youth

The Camping Club Youth is a section of the club is especially for anyone aged between 12 and 17.

As a Youth member you will learn new skills such as pitching tents, cooking, map reading, first aid and lots more. All the training you will receive will help you to pass your Youth Test. Once you have passed your Youth Test you can camp on your own at any Club Site.

The Youth also have their own camping meets such as the National Youth Rally and even International Youth Rallies.

Camping Club Youth membership is free for Youth members aged between 12 and 17 years.  Upon passing the Youth Test by your 18th birthday you will continue to enjoy free CCY membership until your 21st birthday.

A Word from your RYLOs

If you are aged between 12 and 17 (12 to 21 if you pass your youth test) and would like to make new friends have the opportunity to travel to Europe, then why not join the Camping Club Youth

In joining the youth you can:

  • Enjoy adventures with like minded friends
  • Discover the great outdoors
  • Learn new skills
  • Camp at the National Youth Rally and enjoy sports, games, fancy dress, discos and much more
  • After your Youth Test, travel the world on International Youth rallies.

Most weekends, dependant upon space, we/your youth leader will try to have their own designated Youth area (contact them for details)

Awards available for North West Region Youth

The following are awards that are available for the North West Region Youth to win

Regional Certificate of Achievement

Prize: Camping vouchers to the value of £100.00 plus Certificate and Pennon. Plus entry into the National Certificate of Achievement

Specification: Any youth leader/DA member may submit a youth for this award. The specifications are that the youth must have camping related achievements. Written nomination of no more than 250 words, together with a photograph of the nominee are required

National Certificate of Achievement

Prize: Camping vouchers from £150.00 depending on place awarded. Prize giving at National Youth Rally. Certificate and Pennon

Specification: Automatic entry into National award by winner of Regional Certificate of Achievement

Ray Hughes Trophy for Endeavour

Prize: Trophy and pennon

Specification: Youth Leader or anyone from a DA may put forward a youth who they feel fulfills the word “endeavour” from many aspects of walking, physical and mental activities and sporting activities and even things like fund raising. When choosing the recipient take into account the word endeavour – meaning to make a serious and sincere effort to achieve something.

Doug Taylor Trophy

Prize: Trophy

Specification: Achieve most points for passing test in any one year

Deadline: RYLO will receive all marked sheets after each test and produce winner at AGM in May
