Nomination for the Certificate of Honour for the North West Region
Mel & Sheila Dancer

Mel & Sheila joined the Camping and Caravanning Club in 1978 and have supported the Club, Region & District Association since that time, in fact we believe that they were both elected onto Lancashire and Cheshire District Association Committee when they had only been members of the Club for 18 months.
In the 1980’s they worked on the club stand at Belle Vue giving support to our now Regional President Albert Payne, in fact they were responsible for us joining this super Club.
In the early years of the caravan and motor home show moving into the G-Mex centre they continued to work on the Club stand supporting Nev Ramsbottom who took over from Albert Payne.
Both have held positions on the Region, Mel as a councillor and Sheila as Lancashire and Cheshire District Association representative.
They have both worked hard for LCDA and were on the Committee for many years. Mel held the position of Chairman for LCDA and Sheila for lots of years did a wonderful job as the Treasurer. On finishing as Treasurer Sheila became an auditor a role she still undertakes today. Mel has also served on the Social Committee.
Mel has also given many members lots of enjoyment with the enthusiasm he puts into his disco’s, and the quizzes he has organised, giving his time up freely at the Region, DA,
and Youth Meets, always with the support of Sheila.
Both were actively involved with the 1994 National Feast of Lanterns at Cholmondley on the Entertainments Team, and they are giving their support to the same team a Tabley this year. They also attended the NFOL at Tatton Park, when Mel decorated and organised and won the Street scene for the DA. They have taken part in so many Mardi Gras’s at the various NFOL around the country, to numerous to list and have won several prizes.
Mel has played an active part on many working parties for the Region, DA and Youth meets in taking on the responsibility of the electric officer.
Sheila has for many years worked at the Region Meet on Reception as Part of LCDA Team, always taking over the responsibility of the monies collected, and the same involvement with LCDA.
We feel that they ate both worthy candidates to be submitted for this high award, they have never gone for high office so we hope that the Executive for the North West Region will give this recommendation some consideration.
