Welcome to you all and thank you for joining in this year’s Regional Meet.
Let us hope we have better weather than last year, if you recall it rained for a week up to the meet and just about all through it, this resulted in quite a low turnout.
As an experiment last year, following the example of other Regions, we held the Region AGM on the Sunday. I think it fair to say that this decision was met with some scepticism although on reflection it was very successful with an increase in members attending and the variety of questions, comments and views being expressed. For example discussion took place with a view to changing the date of the Region meet to early July but following the discussion it was felt impractical so the date remains the same.
A suggestion for this year was that instead of having a theme and changing it every year, we could take this opportunity to promote the North West and events that take place in our area and build on this year by year. If you would like your ideas to be implemented why not join in at the Region meet sub committee meeting, dates available from the secretary. These meetings are open to everyone not just members of the Region Council, we would love to see you there.
Some changes we made last year proved more successful than others and we feel that more should be provided for members who can’t run around a football field or play volleyball etc.
All that remains for me to say is please join in to whatever extent you can but most of all enjoy yourselves.
